Y’all are going to think I have something every Thankful Thursday, but it is just happening this way. This is such a neat opportunity I wanted to make sure you all saw it. Nancy McGuirk, just released a new, 90-day devotional called, Rest Assured, but that is not the only great thing she is offering, you have the opportunity to win a chance to spend time learning more about God while visiting The Cove. If you have never heard of the The Cove, it is a training center that Billy Graham founded. It has always been a dream of mine to visit there and sit under some of the greatest teachers around. If you win you better send me a postcard!!
Here’s are the details that can help you experience rest this holiday season…
Nancy McGuirk, author of the new devotional, Rest Assured, is giving away a Rest Assured Weekend Getaway at The Cove. Her book helps women rest by taking God at His Word. Plus, Nancy is offering the chance to win a weekend experience of rest in 2008 at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville, NC. The prize package includes a relaxing weekend for two with exceptional food, lodging, and a 3-day seminar with your choice of noted Christian speaker, such as Chip Ingram, Gary Chapman, or Tony Evans.
Nancy’s book, Rest Assured, and the Weekend Getaway make great gift ideas for busy friends and family. Anyone can register at www.NancyMcGuirk.com No purchase is necessary, and the winner will be announced on December 15th. Don’t wait, register today (go register now, I will wait. Ok, done? Now on to Thankful Thursday).
1 It is good to praise the LORD
and make music to your name, O Most High,2 to proclaim your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,
Psalm 92:1-2
1. I saw this picture at the Christmas parade we attended last Saturday and I had to take a picture for y’all. I am thankful for all of you who participate in Thankful Thursday.
2. It has been a difficult week, one where I have difficulty writing this post out (but that is when we need it most, right
My oldest son did not bring home a great progress report from school, we are dealing with teenagehood in full force in this household. But I am thankful for his kind heart, caring attitude, and how he always hugs me EVERY.DAY. (even when I am mad at him). He will be a good husband one day.
3. I am thankful for a husband who shows sympathy when my photoshop program freezes up and I lose everything I had been working on. I was madder than a hornet, but my husband has the gift to gather me from the rafters and make it seem alright.
4. I am thankful it is cold here in Florida (well cold by OUR standards). I pray it keeps up through Christmas, there is just something depressing wearing shorts while opening presents on Christmas morning.
So what are you thankful for this Thursday? May God richly bless you today.

I am working on it right now! So excited Thursday is here….boy howdee—I have missed this bunch!!!!
Thank you for Psalm 92. Our God is so faithful. I appreciate the positive things you said about your son (the one you are frustrated with). It’s always good to look for things to praise when we just want to point our finger at the things we’re annoyed with.
P.S….sorry about you losing all your photoshop work
I KNOW you are praying for that “wife” that your sweet son will someday have….
Great list Laurel.

I’m sorry it’s been a rough week. (((hugs))) Thank you for being grateful even during rough times.
I sometimes get mad as a hornet when my photoshop program freezes, too! LOL … but I have learned to accept it: i need to either buy myself a new computer or just buy additional memory (RAM)!
it always feels great to be with family, even during “hard times”.
Blessings …
That sounds like an awesome getaway…I also loved that sign you posted. Great thought.
Praying for your boy….Nothing gets to the heart of a woman faster than those male children.
much love,
Lisa
Happy TT to you Laurel. I have a teenager at home too, so yes, I can totally relate!
Hope you have a great day tomorrow. Thanks for hosting this TT once again!
Susan
Wow, do I ever know about the teenage thing hitting you full force this week cause it’s happened to me too! I am writing out my thankful post as we speak but I am so thankful for you my friend. You are an amazing host!
Blessings
My ‘teenager’ is only 12 and he is already giving me grief! His 7th grade school work is giving us all grief. (The school is trying a new program and a lot of kids are having a very rough time with it.) My son gives me lots of hugs and helps out greatly. However he has a mind of his own and oftimes forgets he is the kid and not the adult! LOL !!
I am 47 years old and he sometimes wears me right out, I feel like my 84 year old Grandma-in-law. But I do love him.
May God Bless you and carry you through the rough times.

Oh Laurel,
This particular post really touched me. I could have written a couple of the lines. I was deeply touched that you recognize a good future husband in your son. Awesome. I hope my daughter meets him when the time is right.
Also, the photograph is wonderful. Thank you for thinking of us and snapping it.
Finally, well almost, I was right there with you in giving thanks for a husband who fixes my computer when it freezes up. Many times my own man has gathered me down from the rafters…
Now fianally, I too hope it stays cold here on the other (west) coast. Shorts at Christmas time seems, well, just wrong.
Love you my friend. Lynn
Enjoy your Thankful post, specially that wonderful pic taken at at the Christmas parade .
Don’t we just all get madder than a hornet everytime we lose something we’re working on.
Thanks for sharing. I especially love that sign about gratitude. Happy TT.
Thank you for hosting. Wishing you Peace and Joy, and an endless flow of love and kisses for you son. The direct way to a mum’s heart.
Wow – what a giveaway!!! That sounds awesome. I really like listening to Chip Ingram – his messages are great…Maybe I will register and if I win, I send you the tickets
There is much for me to be thankful for this week and always…but mostly I am thankful for getting healthy – PTL
Regarding your son – I know this is a very hard and trying time, but God will see you through this.
Blessings to you and yours, my sweet friend. Thank you for hosting Thankful Thursday.
“Mad as a hornet…” aren’t you glad that that hubby can bring you back…
ha…mine can too…:)
I sit here only days from a “teenager” in my house…
It’s WHO they are becoming that really matters…
great post!
Thank you Laurel for hosting…

Thanks for hosting us again Laurel! And thanks for the “heads up” about the getaway. If nothing else, I’d LOVE that book!
I will be praying for you and your boy as you journey these unchartered waters of teenagerdom. (Wow! I made a word!) My first will be a girl (she’s almost 8 now)…I have to tell you that I am DREADING IT!!…We’ll get together and compare notes, by that time you’ll be a seasoned vet! Love you!!
Thanks for hosting. Love those teenage years. Some days are good and some are bad. I’m still going through them myself. God Bless!
You know – I’m glad you’re honest about the challenge to be thankful this week. Some days it takes more effort to look past the frustrations of the week. One more thing to be thankful for: be glad you found out now instead of at the end of the term (when the damage would be irreversible).

I can relate to your #3. It really is nice to have someone who can reel us in! Blessings on you and I do hope around the 24 and 25th it will be cold in Florida!
What are the odds that I would be #32 to post my TT two weeks in a row? Too bad I don’t play the lottery. My college age son struggled in school and it was so frustrating! He was so blessed to have teachers that saw beyond the “book work” struggles and offered encouragment on what a wonderful heart he had! It made those conferences/progess reports nicer to attend! Hang in there my friend.
I enjoyed your thankful post. I liked the quote in the picture. Thank you for hosting this week again!
Pressing ourselves to be thankful is being faithful in the little things. Nice job, Laurel.
Good luck with the teen years. I’m sure I’m gonna have a time with my teens, I was a bit mouthy myself! (I know, your shocked!..lol) Thank goodness for you husband pulling you from the rafters! And, you are truly blessed if you have any patience whatsoever to work with photoshop. Just opening it makes my head hurt!:)
I love your list Laurel, because I know what it’s like to write it when the week has been going rough. And you’re right that is the absolute best time to write it. Thanks for your honesty and vulnerability to show us how to hang onto God even in the midst of it.
Thanks for sharing!
I’m having some trouble commenting on the posts over at Homesteadblogger.com I just wanted the girls to know I read their thankful list.
Thanks Laurel for hosting TT. I enjoyed reading your list. Thanks for sharing the give away. That looks awesome and Asheville isn’t too far from me, a couple of hours. How neat would that be. Have a blessed TT! {{{Laurel}}}
Happy Thankful Thursday! I have a post up. Come visit. Blessings, Rose
Great post. I homeschool now, but my children did go to public so I know what it is like to deal with those not so great progress reports.
Even in the homeschooling with my oldest …we still have those times. I’ll be praying for you.
One thing I love about the south..MS that is, is the t-shirts in winter time. However, for some reason on Christmas day I like the colder weather too.Hope you have a blessed Christmas season.
Stacy
Be blessed

I entered the contest.. thanks for sharing the info. Also, my 3rd week of my new meme is up if you are wanting to participate again..
1) I registered for the Cove retreat; if I win (haha), I’m inviting you…seriously.
2) I’m feelin’ your teenage angst (well, not yours exactly, but it impacts you). When I’m having the most difficult times, I try to remember that I’m the one God is workin’ on sometimes…(ouch).
Have a beautiful day, sweets
